Advancing 5G/6G with a Vendor-Agnostic Network Data Space presented at PEMWN 2025

The AMAZING-6G project is proud to announce the presentation of a key architectural paper, “Introducing a Framework for a Vendor-Agnostic 5G Network Data Space,” at the 14th IFIP/IEEE International Conference on Performance Evaluation and Modeling in Wired and Wireless Networks (PEMWN 2025).

This groundbreaking framework directly addresses a critical challenge in 5G and Beyond-5G (B5G) deployment: the lack of standardization and the heterogeneity of metrics across different commercial and open-source vendors (like Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei, and Samsung).

Current 5G infrastructure generates crucial data (such as latency, throughput, and network slice performance) using proprietary protocols and diverse data formats (XML, JSON, vendor-specific formats). This inconsistency makes it extremely difficult to:

  • Compare network performance across different deployments.
  • Develop AI-driven optimization strategies.
  • Support advanced applications like Digital Twins and Advanced Monitoring that require unified, high-quality data.

The presented paper outlines a vendor-agnostic framework designed to create an organized environment—a 5G Network Dataspace—where network-generated metrics can be collected, stored, and securely shared for universal access by applications.

This architecture is a foundational step for the AMAZING-6G vision, enabling secure, standardized data sharing across multiple actors in the 5G ecosystem. By providing a common, high-quality data source, the 5G Dataspace will be an efficiency multiplier, unlocking significant value for advanced use cases vital to the project’s goals.

The paper outlines the conceptual and architectural foundation, with validation and prototyping reserved for future work within the TrialsNet project, marking a clear path toward a more interoperable and collaborative 5G and 6G future.
